Travis Barker Gets Some Heat for his Tweet on Los Angeles Traffic Ticket

The Los Angeles Police Department traffic division took some time out of their Thanksgiving schedule to issue a traffic ticket to Travis Barker for tinited windows, VC 26708. From his response we can assume Barker wasn’t thrilled to get the ticket or happy with the attitude of the officer who gave him the ticket. When most people get a traffic ticket in Los Angeles they probably vent a little to their family, friends, and coworkers. Looks like Barker did the exact same thing with his Los Angeles Traffic Citation except since he’s @TravisBarker, when he told his friends, he told about a million people.

According to his twitter profile @TravisBarker has 976,000 plus followers. Thanks to social media, it probably took LAPD about 14 seconds to read the very same tweets that another million people were reading at the same time. “Officer Fard of Lapd, get a life man. Find some bank robbers or do something productive 2 do with your time. I know high school was hard 4 u” followed up by a quick “Pullin me over interrogating me & acting like u did over tinted windows till u scared the p**s out my kids was uncalled 4. Job well done man.”

Now @TravisBarker has his lawyer talking to @LAPD to iron everything out. I’m assuming the LAPD has some interest in avoiding a publicly broadcast tweet war and Travis probably has some interest in not drawing the undivided attention of the Los Angeles Police Department. This incident will probably quietly resolve but the implications for the future are immense. Modern technology will continue to take center stage in the battle between law enforcement and civil liberties. It’s a brave new world.
