West Los Angeles Courthouse is located at 1633 Purdue Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90025 in West LA.   The West LA traffic court is just a few blocks west on Santa Monica Blvd from the 405 freeway.   Anyone who has been pulled over for a traffic ticket anywhere on the westside of LA can tell you about the joy that is the West Los Angeles courthouse.

West Los Angeles Courthouse Traffic on the way to Traffic Court

Traffic getting in and out of this courthouse can be very difficult.   For early morning or even afternoon court appearances traffic can add several hours to the amount of time needed to take care of your ticket.  The giant lines and inefficient court system don’t help speed things up either.   In the true spirit of West LA living, many people find themselves getting another traffic ticket in the process of going to deal with their original ticket at this courthouse.  If you have to go to the West LA courthouse, it may be a good idea to contact a law firm that specializes in LA traffic tickets, as the savings of time, money, and sanity can easily cover the cost of the retainer.

West Los Angeles Courthouse Parking

Parking at the West LA courthouse is also a challenge.   There is a very small lot directly in front of the courthouse on Purdue coming from Santa Monica Blvd but parking begins at $5 and there are only about 20 spaces available.   Street parking is available in areas but watch for street sweeping and resident permit only signs in the surrounding neigborhoods to avoid getting a ticket while you are dealing with your traffic ticket, or worse yet getting towed while dealing with your ticket.

West Los Angeles Courthouse Traffic Clerk

Once you enter the courthouse, the courthouse is set up with two courtrooms.  Department 90 is to your left and department 92 is to your right.  Both courtrooms handle busy traffic calendars in both the morning and afternoon session.   To the right is the clerk’s office, or at least half of it, with the other half of the clerk’s office to the left.   West LA is one of the courthouses which has decided it would be more efficient to make you stand in line twice instead of once.   The clerk’s office to the right handles extensions, takes payments, makes copies etc and the clerk’s office to the left process payments when you are coming directly out of court.    So the basic approach would be to start in the clerk’s office to the right and then go to the one on the left after you see the judge.  Although if you need an abstract you go right, then court, then left, then back to right to get your abstract.  Or if it was with GC Services you would go right to get copy of ticket and information and find out it’s in collections.  Then you would go left to calendar an arraignment.   Once the arraignment happens you see the clerk on the left to pay fine or get trial date.  Anybody confused yet?   Like all Los Angeles traffic courts, the West LA Courthouse is a mess of inefficiency that will leave you in a state of frustration and confusion and ultimately cost you time and money every time you need to go there.
